I’m a Psychologist and Psychotherapist, and most of my work is aimed at helping people improve their quality of life. This often means us getting beyond the stuck places we find themselves in – and in the process, dealing with factors that have contributed to our difficulties or distress, while understanding and discovering more of ourselves and our aliveness. The aim is always to be able to engage safely, more fully and with greater satisfaction in this adventure called life, to learn and to grow into all we can be.
I believe good therapy requires attunement and a collaborative understanding of what each individual needs for their own healing, growth and development – as it seems that no one-size-fits-all.
“We must not be satisfied with merely removing suffering. Our clients deserve more than that. They deserve the ability to love, to bond, to excel, and if they choose , to find the desire to serve others”. Francine Shapiro
I’ve always liked what Socrates is credited with saying – “the unexamined life is not worth living”, and believe this fits the therapeutic endeavor well. A big part of therapy seems to be coming to know and to be better able to express ourselves, so we can more easily engage in the changes we know we need to make and to effectively deal with others and this complex world we are all a part of.
I also (along with Julie Ayres-Cutler), run powerful weekend Imago Relationship Workshops to give couples a deeper understanding of the dynamics that cause distress in coupledom, their own contributions to the dance, and the skills to move towards the loving connection they want – and deserve.
